Abstract
Purpose: To report a case of anterior uveitis in a patient diagnosed with Budd-Chiari syndrome and Behcet's disease.
Case summary: A 28-year-old man came to the clinic for decreased visual acuity of left eye 3 days ago. The patient had recurrent genital, oral ulcers and dyspnea with acute thromboembolism, obstruction of hepatic vein and inferior vena cava and was diagnosed of Budd-Chiari syndrome and Behcet’s disease 1 year ago. His visual acuity was 20/125 on left eye and posterior synechiae with inflammatory membrane and cells (3+) were observed with slit-lamp microscopy. After treatments of topical steroid eyedrops and subtenon triamcinolone injection combined with systemic corticosteroids, immunosuppressive drugs and anticoagulants the patient’s visual acuity and anterior chamber reaction showed improvement. The patient is maintaining systemic corticosteroids, immunosuppressive drugs and anticoagulants and no recurrence has taken since 3 months after the first visit.
Conclusions: The authors experienced a case of anterior uveitis with Budd-Chiari syndrome and Behcet’s disease. The patient showed improvement in symptoms with topical steroids combined with systemic steroids, immunosuppressive drugs and anticoagulants.
Key Words: Behcet’s disease; Budd-Chiari syndrome; Uveitis
