Tonic Pupil in Herpes Zoster Ophthalmicus

Abstract
Purpose
To report a patient with herpes zoster ophthalmicus complicated by tonic pupil. Case summary: A 67-year-old male patient diagnosed as having a herpes zoster ophthalmicus 4 months ago felt visual disturbance of his left eye. Left pupil was dilated and did not react to light. But pupil was constricted to near target and 0.125% pilocarpine. The tonic pupil persisted after 16 months. Conclusions: To our own knowledge, this is the first report of tonic pupil after herpes zoster ophthalmicus in Korea. (Korean J Optom Vis Sci 2009;8(2):70-73)
