Abstract
Purpose
We report a case of subacute lacrimal gland pseudotumor after trauma. Methods: A 48-year-old woman was referred to our clinic with an acute aggravation of upper eyelid swelling and blepharoptosis on her left eye for one month. She had an orbital contusion 10 days before the start of the upper eye lid swelling. Severe conjunctival chemosis in the supratemporal area of the left eye was seen with marked limitation in abduction and adduction in her left eye. She was admitted with a provisional diagnosis of acute orbital cellulitis and was started on intravenous antibiotics for one week. But her symptoms would not be resolved but aggravated. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was done and it showed a crescent shaped mass in the left superior orbit, compressing the superior temporal surface of the eyeball. Results: With the impression of orbital pseudotumor, treatment with systemic corticosteroid was initiated and her symptoms were improved in 3 days. Conclusions: Lacrimal gland pseudotumor can occur after orbital trauma. (Korean J Optom Vis Sci 2007; 6(1):99-102)
