| Abstract |
Purpose To report a case of Ehlers-Danlos syndrome after the pars plana vitrectomy, retinal photocoagulation, extracapsular lens extraction, and penetrating keratoplasty. Methods: A ten-year-old boy who had corneal opacity, total limbal deficiency, blue sclera, oscillopsia, esotropia, epicanthal fold, generalized growth retardation and hyperextensibility of the joints was diagnosed as Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, and had undergone the pars plana vitrectomy, retinal photocoagulation, extracapsular lens extraction, and penetrating keratoplasty due to occurring of retinal detachment. Results: This case was a Ehlers-Danlos syndrome type VI-A. The case is reported with review of literature because while the retina remained well attached, the recurrence of corneal opacity and corneal epithelial defect were observed around the cornea, after the pars plana vitrectomy, retinal photocoagulation, extracapsular lens extraction, and penetrating keratoplasty were performed.
