Abstract |
Purpose To investigate the normal range of central corneal thickness (CCT) in Korean children and to exam the possible relationship between CCT and other biometric factors. Methods: CCT was measured in sixty-nine children who visited pediatric ophthalmology clinic using noncontact specular microscope, Konan Noncon SP-9000. We investigated the correlation between CCT and intraocular pressure (IOP) by Tono-Pen applanation as well as sex, age and spherical equivalent (SE) measured after cycloplegic refraction. Results: The mean CCT was 560.1Ռm, mean IOP was 14.2 mmHg, and mean SE was -0.33 diopter. There was no significant difference between male and female in CCT. There was high correlation of CCT and IOP between right and left eyes. There was no significant correlation between CCT and IOP, CCT and age, CCT and SE. Conclusions: The following parameters were not significantly associated with CCT in Korean children: age, sex, IOP, SE. (Korean J Optom Vis Sci 2007;6(1):54-58) |
